What to Expect at Your
Myofascial Release Appointment
In Myofascial Release, we hold certain positions for at least 3-5 minutes at a time. This allows for long-lasting change in the tissue.
Many people see improvement on their first visit, but not everyone. Old or persistent injuries might need several sessions to feel relief.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I know for my first visit?
Please come without lotion applied, as the treatment requires a bit of grip on the skin.
We might need to work on different parts of the body — for example, if your ankle is sore, we might need to release tissue on the hip. So be prepared for treatment in different areas by leaving off the lotion altogether.
Clothes on or off?
Your comfort is our first priority.
I’ll want to see your posture, how your body is moving, and any tension. That’s hard to see under clothes. For this part of the visit, it makes sense to dress down into undergarments or a sports bra and shorts.
The treatment is done on bare skin. Most patients dress down to undergarments. Like a massage, you’ll be covered with a sheet.
How many sessions will it take to get results?
Myofascial Release is a cumulative process. You may see some improvements right away, but it is a progressive approach. Getting treatments closer together (twice a week instead of once a week) may help speed that journey. We’ll talk through your goals to determine the best care strategy.
Do I need to do anything outside my appointments?
As a physical therapist, I’m able to offer consultations and personalized exercises to support your recovery. We’ll talk about what feels helpful to you.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No medical referral is needed. If you plan to use superbills for reimbursement, some do require a referral before treatment.
Do you take insurance?
I don’t bill insurance. I provide superbills (receipts with insurance coding) that you can submit for reimbursement as an out-of-network provider, depending on your coverage.
What can Myofascial Release treat?
You can find relief from pain and discomfort from injuries, chronic pain, surgical recovery, scar tissue, mobility issues, anxiety, fibromyalgia, and more.
Whether you're dealing with back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, ankle pain, hip pain, or more complex trauma, I’m committed to providing caring and compassionate treatment that helps you feel like yourself again.
What my clients say
"Beth is the best practitioner I have ever worked with.
I am someone who has a difficult time getting massages—it is often painful and leaves me sore for a couple of days. Myofascial release treatments are much more gentle. My muscles are able to relax without guarding.
She really listens and wants to do everything she can to help her patients improve their quality of life. Every time I leave from seeing Beth, my body feels calmer and more relaxed. Make an appointment with her. You won't regret it!"
Stacy Y., Kirkland, WA
"As a result of Beth's intuitive skilled hands, I experienced a deep connection to my body. Her warm smile, stable presence, skilled comforting myofascial touch eased my back, knees, belly, uplifted my mood and energized me to walk more freely without pain or losing my balance.
As a result, I'm more upright and stable. I looked forward each week to my time and treatment with Beth."
Linda K., Bellevue, WA
“I have been looking for a myofascial release practitioner trained by John Barnes. I've seen Beth twice now and she is a very intuitive practitioner who listens well and is very good at what she does.
I am finally getting relief for an injury I incurred 7 months ago. I will continue to see Beth. I highly recommend her.”
